Can permissions to update application group membership be restricted to specific administrator groups?

Overview

You have multiple groups and administrators in your Aurea Process (formerly known as CX Process, Savvion and SBM) and currently, an administrator is able to update the membership of any group on your Aurea Process server.  You would like to know if it is possible to restrict the group membership update permissions for an application to a specific administrator group.

Solution

It is possible to restrict the group membership update permissions for an application to a specific administrator group.  To do this, you can create a group-specific permission as shown below:

Then you can assign this permission to the required administrative group so members of the administrative group can modify the groups assigned to them.  If they attempted to modify groups they don't have permission for, they will get a permission denied message.

For more details on how to configure group permission please take a look at the Managing group permissions section of the BPM Portal Administrators Guide found in SBM_HOME\docs\pdf directory of your Aurea Process server or on the Aurea Process documentation page for your version of Aurea Process on the Aurea Worx community portal.

The enhancement request AUREASPECS-2546 was opened to allow wildcards to be used in the group name field because customers can have hundreds of groups and would need to create a group permission for each individual group.
